The Basics of Supervision course is designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of their responsibilities and obligations as a supervisor, as stated in The Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
Participants will develop the necessary skills to be a competent supervisor and perform their respective duties such as motivate workers, enforce health and safety programs, identify and control hazards, perform workplace inspections, investigate accidents, work refusals and close-calls, communicate with workers and create/retain the required documentation.
This intensive, one-day course runs 8 hours in length and covers a wide range of topics which are applicable for the day-to-day responsibilities a supervisor must complete. Participants will complete a final written examination to demonstrate their knowledge and complete various group activities such as case studies to assist in their understanding.

This GHS program will provide workers and employers with the up-to-date information on any changes and provide assistance to complete a seamless transition into GHS.As per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, an employer must ensure that a worker who works with, or may be exposed to a hazardous product is informed about all hazard information the supplier has provided about the product.

Ontario workplaces, including construction projects, which have more than five regularly employed workers and at which no joint health and safety committee is required, the employer must ensure that workers select a Health and Safety Representative (HSR).
The HSR is selected by workers who do not exercise managerial functions or are unionized. The HSR plays an essential role in the Internal Responsibility System and must be committed to improving the health and safety for all workers in the workplace.
This course will ensure that HSR receive the fundamental skills and knowledge to meet and exceed compliance with their regulated responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Participants will develop an understanding of the OHSA and applicable regulations, duties and responsibilities, hazard assessments and control, workplace inspections and reporting requirements.
This course is designed in compliance with the Ministry of Labour’s Health and Safety Representative Basic Training Program guidelines.

New & Young Worker Orientation (AWO-01):
As per the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, the employer must provide information, instruction and supervision to a worker to protect the health or safety of the worker. With Paramount Safety Consulting Inc’s New and Young Worker Orientation, workers will be introduced to your workplaces health and safety practices, work procedures, policies and equipment usage.
Participants will learn the applicable regulations that apply to their work, develop an understanding of their rights and responsibilities in addition to the responsibilities of the employer and supervisor. New workers will gain an understanding of the workplaces emergency procedures and workplace rules for situations such as smoking, cell phone usage and non-compliance. Workplace Health and Safety and Workplace Violence and Harassment will be taught to workers, in addition to the locations of the Health and Safety Board, MSDS Binder and JHSC/HSR.
This course will include training on the required personal protective equipment and its proper use, inspection and maintenance procedures
