The Arc Flash Awareness course is designed to provide workers with a basic understanding of the dangers of an Arc Flash. This course is designed to meet and exceed the provincial regulations in addition to the CSA Z462-18 Standard and NFPA 70E requirements. This course will provide learners with a thorough understanding of effective Electrical Safety Programs and how they must be implemented and maintained in the workplace.

Training Objectives:
Participants will receive training on the causes of an arc flash, how arc flash may be prevented and the required personal protective equipment which must be worn. This course will also introduce the legislative requirements as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, O.Reg. 213/91- Construction Projects (Electrical Hazards), Regulation 851- Industrial Establishments, CSA Standard Z462-2021, The Electricity Act and The Electrical Safety Code.

2. Arc Flash Causes and Hazards
3. Legislation for Arc Flash Prevention
4. CSA Z462-18 Compliance
5. Personal Protective Equipment Requirements
6. Safe Work Procedures

Training Evaluations:
Participants will be evaluated over the course of the training through class participation/discussion, group work and a final written evaluation. The written evaluation is completed at the end of the course, participants must receive 75% to be successful.

Record of Training:
1. Documented participation and verifying objectives
2. Registered Participant Training Card
3. Electronic copy of participant training records sent to the employer
4. Certification is valid for three years from date of issue
